We are thrilled to introduce you to the Primary Care Medical Administration course, an innovative collaboration between East Antrim Federation and the Northern Regional College. This advanced program has been carefully designed to address a pressing need in the medical field; the need for highly trained new staff to work in practice alongside our existing staff dealing with increasingly complex situations. As initiators of this first-of-its-kind course, you are embarking on a transformative learning experience that will not only empower you with specialised skills but also make you a sought-after asset in the healthcare industry.

Duration: 1 Year Part-time
Number of weeks: 34
Start date: 12th September 2023
End date: 11th June 2024
Day: Tuesday at NRC
Time: 09:00-17:00

This course provides students with the skills GP Practices are looking for and help them gain a recognisable medical secretary qualification. The medical profession is a challenging sector where discretion, patience, and sensitivity are essential skills. The Level 2 Diploma will teach them all the vital skills they need to act as a link between patient and doctor. They will learn how to integrate the theory of medical terminology, complete administrative and technical tasks in an accurate and timely manner, including compiling confidential letters, typing reports for patient records, and keeping the office running efficiently. They will gain the professional expertise required to work within the medical profession.

Working in partnership with East Antrim Federation full course fees will be funded by DOH/HSCNI Strategic Planning and Performance Group (SPPG) for 20 successful students.  Placements have been sourced and agreed with 14 GP Practices within the East Antrim area.  All successful students must be able to make their own way to their location of the placement.

  • 7.5 hours per week work experience or employment in a primary care /medical setting. Support will be provided for placement if required.

  • Paid training allowance for placement.
